Giving Thanks

Giving thanks in Canada as we enjoy the bounty of fall.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

Fall is a time of reflection as the winter dormant season approaches.

Of harvest before rest.

A season of rest before new growth.

Thankful for the glories of fall ~

Cool, crisp air forms clouds upon each breath.

Thank you, Lord, for my life and breath each new day.

Early morning frost upon the dewy grass before the warm sunshine of the day.

Thank you, Lord, for the sun rising every day without fail.

Eyes squint at the bright, cerulean blue sky with soft white wisps of cloud overhead.

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of sight.

The blue sky is a perfect canvas showcasing the colourful leaves of green, yellow, orange, and red as the trees display their glorious finale.

Thank you, Lord, for eyes to see.

Footsteps crunch loudly over the dried, fallen leaves littering the ground.

Thank you, Lord, for ears to hear and a body that moves.

Geese honk in rhythm to the flapping of their wings as they glide overhead, gathering together for their journey south, heralding their reunion.

Thank you, Lord, for the reunion of family and friends.

Shiny red apples sweetly tart with each crunchy, juicy bite.

Thank you, Lord, for bountiful food.

My family gathered around the table to celebrate Thanksgiving together.

Thank you, Lord, for my family.

Thankful for God’s provision ~ of food, shelter, safety, health, and family.

Thankful for the freedom we have in our country.

I am thankful for the spiritual freedom I have in Christ.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

Reflection: What are you thankful for today?
